About M5 Technologies.
M5 Technologies, headquartered in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, has a long-standing reputation in the field of telecommunications and VoIP technologies.
The company was originally founded in 1992 under the name Mediatrix. It began by developing professional-grade PC audio cards that quickly gained popularity for their quality and performance. In 1997, the company shifted its focus toward the emerging VoIP industry, launching a successful line of analog and digital gateways under the Mediatrix brand. These devices enabled businesses and service providers to transition from traditional telephony to IP-based communications while maintaining compatibility with existing infrastructure.
To support its growing software needs, M5 Technologies created a dedicated software division in the early 2000s called M5T. This team specialized in SIP-based software development kits (SDKs) and client engines, allowing manufacturers and developers to integrate VoIP functionalities into their devices and applications.
Eventually, the hardware and software divisions were brought together under the unified name of M5 Technologies, strengthening the company's position as a global VoIP solutions provider. The company continued to innovate, launching new product lines such as the Sentinel Session Border Controllers and expanding the well-established Mediatrix portfolio.
In 2021, our organization underwent a major transformation with a complete renewal of the administration. We moved into a modern new headquarters featuring an exceptional view and an inspiring work environment. The goal: to make our employees proud and happy in their workplace. Our laboratories were also fully renovated to reflect this new vision. That same year, our Sentinel SBC products were officially recognized and certified by Microsoft for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, reinforcing our commitment to secure and interoperable enterprise communications.
In 2022, we proudly launched the Mini Sentinel SBC, the smallest session border controller in our portfolio. Despite its compact size, this powerful device is capable of supporting up to 1,200 simultaneous users and 400 concurrent sessions, making it an ideal solution for medium-sized enterprises and branch offices that require robust security and performance in a space-saving format.
Today, M5 Technologies is a niche leader in enabling voice services across the vast majority of global router systems that rely on telephony.
The company’s technology is deeply embedded in the foundations of modern VoIP, having been present since the very creation of this revolutionary communication method. With a global footprint spanning over 185 countries, M5 Technologies offers secure, reliable, and interoperable communication tools that empower enterprises, service providers, and integrators around the world. With decades of expertise and a commitment to innovation and quality, M5 Technologies continues to be a driving force in the evolution of IP communications firmly rooted in Sherbrooke, proudly influencing networks worldwide.
